The Kenya Wildlife Service, is famously known by in initialism as KWS. This is a state corporation that was established in the year 1990 with the aim to effectively manage, conserve and rehabilitate the Kenya's wildlife. The corporation is also mandated to enforce all related laws and regulations, to protect and conserve the flora and fauna of the country.
The Kenya Wildlife Service is in charge of managing most of the National Parks and Reserves in Kenya. The most notable exception is the Maasai Mara National Reserve, which is managed by the local county government, while various animal conservancies are owned and managed by private investors and organizations.
